1st Place Award for Large Bathroom in the NKBA 2016 Design Vision Awards
This was my own master bathroom and was part of a whole house project in Glen Ellyn. The goal of the house remodel was to do a “right sized” remodel so this room is just the right size for my husband and I and focuses on quality of materials over size. We started by eliminating the existing tub and a divider between the tub/toilet area and vanities. This allowed the few extra inches needed to get a nice sized double vanity in and a 42”x60” shower.
Storage solutions include a freestanding vanity with both closed storage and an open area below for linens. Two built in medicine cabinet over each sink and also a cabinet built into the wall studs provide additional storage for toiletries. A separate vanity area outside of the bathroom helps to limit the storage requirements for inside the bathroom as things like blow dryers and makeup utilized and stored elsewhere.
The flooring is heated and clad is Calcutta marble mosaic. The room is tiled in warm gray ceramic tile and a charcoal color liner echoed in the window treatment and brass and black wall sconces. The white vanity ties in with the marble, and chrome fixtures remind you that the room is a utilitarian one.
